Born and raised in the Southwest of England, Emma arrived in the United States as an 18 year old in search of purpose. Having been born to two teenaged parents and grown up in poverty, Emma has always embraced hard work, grit, hustle, and a lot of innovation to get by.
At 20 years old she was placed at her first insurance job by a staffing agency and quickly moved through the ranks before being recruited to a larger organization. From regional to national carriers, Emma continued blazing a trail and turning heads as her career and her passion grew to new heights. After more than a decade in big insurance, Emma turned her back on the perverse incentives of BUCA businesses and began publicly advocating for change. With equal amounts of nay-sayers as supporters, she didn't let the criticism or intimidation tactics quiet her voice and quickly became one of the industry's most notable leaders and activists.
In 2018, Emma left her final corporate role to open a boutique consulting firm with her husband and business partner that is now a nationally renowned specialty brokerage. Since then, this serial entrepreneur has launched and manages five consulting and advocacy organizations with one goal in mind -- to make the healthcare purchasing and delivery experience better for EVERYONE.
Emma is a mom to a neurodiverse son who thrives at The Halton School in North Carolina. She works every year to fundraise and support the continued efforts of the school to give autistic children a place to learn and grow.
Throughout the year, Emma hosts events from comedy shows to charity carnivals, to raise money for national debt relief organizations that will assist low income families in settling or eliminating their medical bills.
Women's rights, equal pay, public safety, women's healthcare, female business owners and leaders, women in business, and everything in between. Empowered women empower women.
With four kids, two dogs, a spunky husband and a little too much personal ambition, carving out intentional family time is key to staying connected. Making memories is at the top of the priority list!
Emma created the advanced educational curriculum, credentialed by The Validation Institute, that teaches advisors, employers, and other industry stakeholders how to effectively work around the BUCAs.
It's not a bad word; it's a position and a passion. Advocating for any change that benefits others or improves quality of lives is a privilege and a great responsibility that isn't taken lightly.
